Mulled Wine
Ingredients
- 750 ml bottle of dry red wine
- 1/4 cup brandy (can also use orange liqueur)
- 1 full orange sliced into rounds
- 2 to 4 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 star anise
- 8 cloves (whole)
- Garnish: None
Instructions
- In a sauce pan large enough to hold all ingredients, add red wine, brandy, orange slices, sweetener, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and cloves.
- Cook at a medium-high heat until it begins to simmer, while stirring occasionally.
- Cover with a lid and reduce heat to low allowing the mixture to simmer for 30 minutes or up to 2.5 hours.
- Strain into a container or into glass mugs, adding additional sweetener to taste.
